Chad

Chad is only of the poorest countries in the world. It is ranked the Fifth poorest by the United Nations with 80% of its population under the poverty line. While the country is struggling to keep itself alive its people live off of subsidized farming. While It is also one of the countries that has taken a loan from the World Bank. The public school system there is almost non-existent. While with poverty levels so low there is a need for children to work and not go to school. The average primary school attendance; male child is at 41% while the average female child is 31%. Then there is the scary statistics on secondary school; male attendence 13% and female attendence 7%. When in such poverty how are people suposed to do to get themselves out of poverty. The literacy rate in chad for men and women is alarming; 56% for men and 23% for women. It just goes to show that in cases where if there is a choice between a girl and a boy going to school it will be a boy.  Also it shows that with poverty rates so low and the cost of going to school and school supplies that most people cannot afford to go to school to better themselves to get out of the situation they are in. Poverty creates more poverty.
